It is the responsibility of CRUSTEAM NIGERIA LIMITED to carry out its business activities in such a manner that no fatality or serious injuries or damage to property shall arise therefrom.  Every necessary step shall be taken to safeguard all work including third parties.  Positive attitudes to safety shall be rewarded and negative ones reprimanded.  Detailed safe work procedures must be put in place and site management held accountable for site implementation.

 

In order to ensure an enviable performance, the following strategies will be adopted.

 

 1. The continuous identification of accident causes

 2. The control of accident causes

 3. The minimization of accident losses

 

While the overall responsibility for safety rest at the highest management level, all individuals at every level have responsibilities for carrying out that policy.  With this in mind, employees should report potential hazards, near misses and observe safety rules, procedures and codes of practice.  This policy will be brought to the notice of all employees.  It will be reviewed as at when necessary.  We shall operate from the concept that All Accidents are Preventable.  Let us all put this viewpoint to firm practice as working safely and in accordance with this policy and other related safety codes shall continue to remain a condition for employment.

 

This policy shall be communicated to all employees, to all the client of the company and its suppliers and to all third parties with whom the company may be associated.

Health

The health of workers is supersedes company business and any activity that cannot be carried out without causing harm to the health of workers, shall not be started nor continued.  Work may result in occupational illness.  It is therefore essential that early recognition of health hazards is established, monitored and recovery measures put in place. We shall conduct a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and a Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) for every operation to be carried so as to ascertain the level of health risk that workers might be faced with and a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) put in place.

 

CRUSTEAM shall administer and maintain Hospital/Clinic Retainer Schemes with Government approved Hospitals. Qualified Occupational Health Nurses shall maintain every of our Site Clinics and MEDIVAC in its area of operations so as to administer First Aid treatment as well as render medical services to staff.

 

The company encourages employees to participate in voluntary first aid training programs as well other health programs. The company places great emphasis on the promotion of the total health concept and the protection of the worker.

Environmental

The state of our environment has become a serious concern to both local and international authorities. CRUSTEAM environmental policy is a fulfillment of the current clamour for reduced environmental degradation. The company is committed to ensuring clean and healthy environment in the course of executing and/or carrying out its routine operations.

 

The company is duly registered with FMENV and as such has regards for applicable codes as may be stipulated by local and national authority.

 

All employees, subcontractors and third parties that are involved with our operations must at all times ensure strict compliance to this policy.  Waste management techniques using the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) shall be employed as part of the preventive measures to control environmental pollution. Structured use and disposal of injurious chemicals shall be applied using the Safe Handling of Chemicals (SHOC) cards for every chemical used in our operations.  Also due regards must be paid to reduction of noise at source and when not possible appropriate engineering control shall be applied.

 

It is expected of every employee and third party that may be involved in the course of our operation to provide healthy and environmentally acceptable conditions both at home and work.

Community Affairs

CRUSTEAM NIGERIA LIMITED as part of its corporate Policy considers Community Affairs, Safety, Health, Environment and Security issues to have equal status with other business objectives and that we have a systematic approach to HSE and Community Relations.

Therefore effective project planning and considerations with specific relevance to protection of life, property and environment are critical issues of its concern in its project execution and implementation criteria through:

The elimination of all forms of Hazards and the preservation of the Health and Safety of its employees, sub-contractors and third parties.

Maintenance of plant and equipment in safe and proper condition.

Investigation of any accident to ascertain causes in order to eliminate them and forestall future occurrence.

Insurance of strict compliance of its sub-contractors with the terms of this policy.

Recognition of excellence in safety and the provision of a safe and secure work environment.

Establishment of a good rapport with the members of the host communities and other persons that may be affected by CRUSTEAM activities.

Stipulated penalty in accordance with company regulation shall be employed should there be violation of HSE policy.
